Small fire breaks out at Pleasant Ridge Burger King

PLEASANT RIDGE, OH (FOX19)- Emergency crews were called to a reported fire at a Burger King Wednesday evening in Pleasant Ridge.

A caller reported the smell of something burning in the restaurant, just after 9 p.m.

Upon arrival, crews reported smoke and visible fire, which was put out within approximately 15 minutes.

The cause of the fire was due to smoking materials discarded just outside of the building.

Authorities say the Health Department was notified because the incident happened at a restaurant.

Damage is estimated at $5,000. No one was injured.

Suspect in local pizza shop murder arrested in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (FOX19)- A man wanted in connection to the murder of a Hartwell pizza shop owner turned himself into police in Indianapolis, @FOX59 confirms.

A warrant was issued Tuesday for the arrest of John Deloney, 27.

Deloney is accused of murdering Richard Evans, 50, at Cosmic Pizza on Woodsdale Avenue.

Police say Evans was shot during an attempted robbery on Saturday evening. He was found outside the restaurant suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Evans was a father of three children.

Two people shot in Golf Manor

GOLF MANOR, OH (FOX19)- Hamilton
County Sheriff's deputies and Golf Manor Police are investigating a shooting in
the 2400 block of Canterbury in Golf Manor.

Golf Manor police officer Michael
Forrest says an unknown individual went to the rear of the home and from the
back patio shot several rounds into the bedroom.

Upon arrival, police found Ronald
Devine, 38, suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest and wrist and Berlinda
Williams, 34, suffering from gunshot wounds to the abdomen and leg.

"It's expected that the
individual knew them. He certainly knew exactly where the bedroom window was he
didn't just shoot up the entire back of the house," Forrest said.

The victims were taken to
University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening
injuries. The couple says they were shot while they were sleeping. Forrest
confirmed two juveniles were in the residence at the time but were unharmed.

Local college student target of possible hate crime

WALNUT HILLS, OH ( FOX19)- A Northern Kentucky University student says he was the target of a hate crime while coming home work.

He believes he was attacked because he's gay.

Matthew Clark has been living on Morris Street near Eden Park for just three weeks, and already, he feels uncomfortable in his neighborhood.

"I parked
my car, and I walked around to the other side to get some stuff out of the
passenger seat, and I lean over to close the door, and he's standing right there," Clark explained to FOX19.

The 21-year-old says it was dark when his attacker approached him and couldn't gather a good description of the suspect, but heard was he was saying.

"He
brought up AIDS. He brought up the gay f-word. He was calling me a queer and all this other stuff, saying I was a disgrace to society."

Clark revealed the attacker held a gun to his head.

"He asked
me why I deserve to live because I am gay."

Beacon to create 40-50 jobs in Sharonville expansion

SHARONVILLE, OH (FOX19)- Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine will break ground Monday on an expansion to its Summit Woods Medical Center in Sharonville.

Officials say the expansion will add 40 to 50 jobs to the area.

The project will double the size of Beacon's surgical center and add 11,422 square feet to the existing 80,000-square-foot building.

The groundbreaking is planned for 3 p.m. at the center, with Dr. Kremcheck, Beacon CEO Glen Prasser, Sharonville Mayor Kevin Hardman all in attendance.

Cincinnati-based CORE is leading the expansion project, MSA is the architect and financing will be provided by Fifth Third Bank.

The center is located at 500 E. Business Way, just off East Kemper Road near Reed Hartman Highway.
