Cincinnati State to offer courses for Ford employees

SHARONVILLE, OH (FOX19)- Cincinnati State is set to offer an apprentice program for employees of Ford's Sharonville plant.

The school's Workforce Development Center (WDC) is joining with Ford Motor Company to hold 15 classes on the maintenance of electrical systems and controls for manufacturing equipment.

Organizers say participants
who complete all 15 courses will be eligible to earn as many as 34 semester
credits, which can be applied towards an associate degree at Cincinnati State. 

"We're
pleased to be able to provide such a comprehensive training package to Ford,"
said Dr. Dennis Ulrich, Vice President for Workforce Development at Cincinnati
State. "The Ford Motor Company, and the auto industry in general, are vital
parts of Greater Cincinnati's economy."

A total of 600 classroom hours will be taught, dealing with topics from algebra and trigonometry to circuit analysis.

Four people shot in Winton Hills

WINTON HILLS, OH (FOX19)- Four people were rushed to area hospitals Monday afternoon after a shooting in Winton Hills.

It happened around 1:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Craft Street right off of Kings Run Drive. 
FOX19 has learned that  a large group of people were having a confrontation when one man pulled out a gun and began shooting.
Four victims arrived at the hospital via private transportation. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
At this time, police have a vague description of the wanted suspect.

SHARONVILLE, OH (FOX19) - A hiring event this week is being hosted by a new company that is  expanding and moving into the Cincinnati area.

Tidewater Transit Company Inc. will hold the event May 15, 16 and 17 at the LaQuinta Inn & Suites in Sharonville.

“We are looking for individuals interested in company and owner /operators drivers with our family owned bulk chemical carrier operation in this area. Our company offers an excellent benefits package with health and life insurance, 401K retirement, profit sharing program, vacation and holiday pay” says Carol Wilson, coordinator for the event. “Job seekers with class A CDL tank / hazmat endorsement and TWIC card can apply”.

Hours for the job fair will be between 9am – 3pm and 5pm – 7pm each day.

Man robbed in strip mall parking lot

Man robbed in strip mall parking lot

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19)- Cincinnati police are investigating an alleged armed robbery in the parking lot of a liquor store.

The incident happened in a strip mall parking lot in front of a State Liquor Store located in the 7600 block of Reading Road.

Authorities say that three suspects approached one man in the parking lot. The suspected took keys and a cell phone.

A gun was found on the sidewalk following the robbery.

Little information is known at this time.

Pair arrested following string of stroller robberies

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19)- Two suspects were
arrested in St. Bernard following a string of stroller robberies in the area.

Authorities say that
several strollers were taken from residents' front porches in previous weeks.

On Saturday evening,
police observed a theft of a stroller in progress in the 4300 block of
Greenlee. Police confronted the suspects and found another stroller in the back
of their gold Ford Taurus.

The suspects told
authorities they took the strollers because they needed money. The suspects
were looking for anything they could take and could get money for the strollers
on the street.

Both subjects were
arrested on two counts of theft.

Bike and Ride FREE on Metro, TANK and CTC on May 17

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19)  To celebrate Bike to Work Day, bicycle commuters can ride free on Metro, the Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky (TANK) or Clermont Transportation Connection (CTC) on Friday, May 17, when they transport their bikes on the easy-to-use bus bike racks.

Bike racks are located on the front of all Metro, TANK and CTC buses and can be used at all bus stops including Government Square downtown. Each bike rack can accommodate two bikes. For safety reasons, bikes are not allowed on-board buses unless they can be folded and stowed under a seat.

Metro and TANK will also be at the Bike to Work Day Celebration on Washington Park on May 17, from noon to 1 p.m., to demonstrate the ease of biking and riding buses. Visit http://www.queencitybike.com/ for information on Cincinnati Bike Month activities.
