Woman's Art Club of Cincinnati Exhibits Traditional and Contemporary Art | Arts & Culture
MARIEMONT, OH (FOX19) - The Woman's Art Club of Cincinnati hosts a show of art in different media and in various styles beginning October 1 and continuing through October 23.
The opening reception is October 2 from 1-4 p.m. Other hours for the show are: Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 1 to 4 p.m. Location for the show has changed from downtown Cincinnati to "The Barn" (Woman's Art Club and Cultural Center) at 6980 Cambridge Avenue in Mariemont.
Viewers to this free show can expect to see over 75 paintings, sculptures, and fiber art, in both traditional and contemporary styles. The renovated dairy barn is now a beautiful facility with gallery space, workrooms, classrooms and private studios. Parking is available near the circular driveway that fronts the facility. Additional parking is at the side of the building.
Juror for the show is Sam Hollingsworth who is a graduate of The University of Cincinnati College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning (DAAP). He specializes in surrealist commentary and impressionistic still life and landscapes. Hollingsworth is an exhibiting artist represented by the Collectors Art Group Gallery in Cincinnati. He will give awards for Best Traditional art, Best Contemporary art and Best of Show for the total award amount of $500.00.
Janet Vennemeyer who is chair of the show and an avid artist believes that an artist must first be delighted with her own work in order to give pleasure to the viewer. "Come join us at the Woman's Art Club Exhibit for delightful pleasure," she said.
The Woman's Art Club of Cincinnati promotes the visual arts by hosting exhibits, workshops, lectures and demonstrations to members as well as offering art classes to the community at large. There is special emphasis on summer classes for children and year-round adult classes in oil, pastels, and watercolor taught by local and regional artists.
