Registration still available for golf tournament at Sharon Woods

SHARONVILLE, OH (FOX19) - Local golf enthusiasts can now register for the 75th Anniversary Golf Classic Tournament being  held at Sharon Woods.

The tournament is an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Saturday, June 1 and includes two-person better ball, both gross and net divisions. There will be an optional skins game, both gross and net. A putting contest will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The cost is $75 per team and includes prizes and lunch. Registration and payment can be made online at greatparks.org/golf/tournaments or by calling Sharon Woods Golf Course at 513-769-4325.

The tournament is part of a week-long celebration, May 27–June 2, which includes contests, giveaways, golf specials and more. Visit greatparks.org/golf/sharon-woods for details.

 

 

Hamilton County Parks free summer concert series is back

Hamilton County Parks free summer concert series is back

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The summer schedule is set for the return of Hamilton County Park District’s Sizzlin’ Summer Concert Series.

The concerts featuring local bands will be held on Saturdays from 7 - 9pm at different parks throughout the district.

The series kicks off June 8, at Miami Whitewater Harbor Forest Point with rock and classic country group, the Danny Frazier Band. Other artists include:

River City Rewind: June 15 at Fernbank Park

Dejavu: June 29 at Sharon Woods

Unbalanced: July 13 at Winton Woods Harbor Amphitheater

The Mistics: July 27 at Winton Woods Harbor Amphitheater

Power Up… READ! this summer at the Public Library

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - It’s time to “power up” your reading skills and earn prizes for participating in the 40th annual Summer Reading Program at the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County. This year’s theme, Power Up…Read!, offers all sorts of excitement by spotlighting “superheroes.”

To kick off a fun season of reading (June 1-July 31), ALL Library locations around Hamilton County are holding Summer Reading activities related to this exciting theme on Saturday, June 1. Children and their families are invited to stop by their neighborhood Library to decorate a superhero mask (while supplies last).

Special kickoff events at selected Library locations on June 1:

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - From nature preserves and parkways, to regional and neighborhood parks, Cincinnati has a long and proud history of enhancing the quality of life through outdoor recreation. In keeping with this tradition, Cincinnati Parks, in partnership with ArtWorks and the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, is gathering community input on the design of a new carousel to be built at Smale Riverfront Park.

Through May 30, the Main Library is displaying selections from its historic postcard collection in A Place of Beauty, Health and Play: A History of Cincinnati Parks. This display features more than 60 images of 17 parks, including Ault, Eden, Lincoln, Mount Echo and Washington parks.   Images from the display can be viewed at http://cinlib.org/YIsCAq.

Public Library holds Fine Amnesty Day May 15

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - On May 8 the Public Library received a National Medal for Library Service from the Institute for Museum and Library Service. This award is the nation’s highest honor recognizing museums and libraries for their service to the community.

To celebrate this national recognition and thank our community for their support, we're holding a Fine Amnesty Day on Wednesday, May 15. During Fine Amnesty Day, outstanding fines will be removed from library cards. The fines may be the result of items returned prior to or on May 15.

Free dental care in three seperate locations on Saturday

SPRINGDALE, OH (FOX19) - Three local dentists are offering free services on Saturday, May 11 for the annual Dentistry From The Heart event.

More than 500 residents are expected to line up as early as 5am to receive free dental care.

Dr. Rachelle Boudreau, Dr. Eric Henize and Dr. Thomas Phillips along with volunteers and sponsors will give free extractions, fillings and cleanings.

Dentistry from the Heart will take place in three locations:

Dr. Rachelle Boudreau is located at 11333 Springfield Pike; Dr. Eric Henize is located at 4723 Cornell Road and Dr. Thomas Phillips is located at 2131 Beechmont Avenue.

Since its inception in 2001, Denistry From The Heart has grown to include over 200 annual events nationwide and provided more than 45,000 people with free dental care.
