ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati Golfers for Charity (CGC) will hit the links Friday, May 18th with a goal of raising more than $100,000 for area kids. This is the fifth annual 100-hole golf challenge for the CGC, adding to the more than $420,000 raised in the past four years to help afflicted children in the Greater Cincinnati community. The event will be held at The Vineyard golf course in Anderson Township.

WOODLAWN, OH (FOX19) -  The HealthCare Connection’s 7th annual 5K Walk to Wellness & Spring into Health! Fair will celebrate the organization’s 45th Anniversary of serving the community.  This event is a celebration of this major milestone and THCC’s efforts to promote healthy lifestyles. This untimed 5k walk is designed to be enjoyed by everyone, no matter what their fitness level might be.

This year’s walk is scheduled for Saturday, May 19, from 8:45 am to noon, with the untimed walk beginning at 10 am.  A beautifully-landscaped, 3.1 mile walking course is available in Glenwood Gardens on Springfield Pike, complete with wetlands, prairies, meadows, and an array of spring flowers.  Shorter loops are also available for walkers. The health fair will feature a variety of exhibitors who will provide important health information ranging from insurance and health care options to nutrition and disease prevention.

WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) - Actor Omari Hardwick will join Ickey Woods, Yancey Thigpen, Art Still, Chuck Foreman, Alfred William, James Francis, Pete Johnson and a host of other local celebrities for the first ever Fairways For Airways Celebrity Golf Classic. The American Lung Association and the Jovante Woods Foundation are partnering together to host this inaugural event.

Omari Hardwick has appeared in many films including The Guardian with Kevin Costner, The A-Team with Liam Neeson and Bradley Cooper and For Colored Girls with Janet Jackson. He also started in the short lived television series Dark Blue alongside Dylan McDermott. Most recently, Hardwick stars in Whitney Houston’s final movie, Sparkle, hitting theaters in August.

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, HAMILTON COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - Northminster Presbyterian Church would like to announce that author and speaker Andy Matheson (International Director for Oasis Global) will be preaching at all four worship services at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati on Sunday, May 6. 

Matheson is a gifted speaker who will be presenting a message entitled:  “Seeing people through the lens of Genesis 1”.  The worship service times are:  8 & 10:15 a.m. (traditional services); 9 & 11:30 a.m. (“Crosspoint”, contemporary services).    He will also be speaking that night to high school and college students at Northminster at 7:52 PM on the issue of human trafficking.  For directions or more info, contact Rich Jones at Northminster Presbyterian Church at rjones@nmpchurch.org or call the church office at 513-931-0243.

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and The Center for Holocaust and Humanity Education will open the groundbreaking exhibition of The Jews of Częstochowa: Coexistence-Holocaust-Memory at the Skirball Museum with a reception on Sunday, April 22, at 5:30 p.m. 

The Jews of Częstochowa commemorates the Jewish contribution to Częstochowa, a once thriving community of 40,000 Jewish inhabitants, before the devastation of Polish Jewish life by the Nazi occupation. It features a variety of photographs, documents and artifacts from both during and after World War II.

A list of distinguished guests will speak at the opening, including Sigmund Rolat, a native of Częstochowa and Holocaust survivor, and the Most Rev. Dennis M. Schnurr, archbishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cincinnati.

Kite Fest in West Chester tries again Sunday

WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) – What was supposed to be the first day of the 8th annual WGUC Airwaves Kite Fest in West Chester was not to be, as the event was blown away, soaked, and canceled by rain and wind on Saturday.

Clearing, warm and windy weather should make for entirely different results Sunday from noon to 5 p.m..

Among the things to see: Chicago Fire choreographed kite team; 180 GO choreographed kite team; US Champion Boomerang Team; Cincinnati Zoo animals (12-2 p.m.); Eric the Balloon Guy (12-2 p.m.); Airbrush Tattoos (3-5 p.m.), Parachute Run; Open Flying areas; Kite Making for kids; Big Kites; Kite Vendors; Kite Exhibit.

Admission is free, but Kite Making kits will set you back $3, and they’re asking for voluntary parking donations of $2 to benefit the VOA Museum.  Parking is offsite at West Chester Hospital and shuttle buses run continuously to the VOA Museum.

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - ArtsWave is announcing a bonus Macy’s Arts Sampler event, The Great Sampler Sing-Along, featuring the Cincinnati May Festival Chorus on Saturday, April 21st at Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church. Starting with a family-friendly sing-along and community meal at Noon, the free event includes a joint choral concert highlighting the long history of choral singing in Cincinnati.

 Six local choirs will perform, representing the many different cultures and communities that make our community vibrant through song. This special Sampler event is generously sponsored by Macy’s, and is the final Macy’s Arts Sampler event of the year.
