Sharonville Fire Department hosting Touch the Truck event on Saturday

SHARONVILLE, OH (FOX19) - The Sharonville Fire Department will be hosting a Touch the Truck event for the community on Saturday, May 4 from 10am - 2pm.

This event will be held at the Sharonville Community Center located at 11355 Chester Road. Organizers anticipate that 50 different types of vehicles will be on display along with  Air Care and Life Flight helicopters.

SHARONVILLE, OH (FOX19) -  Heritage Village Museum is ready to strat the summer operating season, which runs from May 1st through September 30th.  

Guided tours will be given through the historic village depicting life in Southwestern Ohio through-out the 19th Century.  As you stroll through the buildings, our trained tour guides will provide the facts and stories to bring the Village to life.

The museum will be open Wednesday – Saturday 10:00 am-5:00 pm and Sunday 1:00 pm-5:00 pm.

Guided tours will be at the following times:

Wednesday – Friday: 10:30 am/ 12:45 pm/ 3:00 pm

Saturday: 10:30 am/ 12:00 pm/ 1:30 pm/ 3:00 pm

Sunday: 1:30 pm/ 2:15 pm / 3:00 pm

Guided tour admission is $5 adults, $3 children 5-11. Kids under 4 and museum members are free. Heritage Village Museum is located within Sharon Woods Park. A Hamilton County Park Pass may be required.

Soap box racers gearing up for annual race this weekend

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Local children who are curious about soap box racing will be able to try the sport on Saturday, April 27.

Kids ages 7 thru 17 are invited to try out Soap Box Derby racing at the Red Dog Grand Prix in Madisonville.  CSBD has a number of cars to drive on the same hill as the Cincinnati Championship race.

Drivers must be ages 7 through 17 to drive and a partent or guardian must sign a liability waiver in person. The morning race begins at 9 a.m. Drivers report at 7:30 am. The afternoon race begins after morning race, approx 1 pm. Drivers report at noon.

There is a $35 per race fee to drive but anyone may watch the race for free.

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19)  - Author Heather Shumaker will be at the Blue Ash Branch Library at 7 p.m. Monday, April 29.  She will talk about her book, “It’s OK Not To Share and Other Renegade Rules for Raising Competent and Compassionate Kids."

In "It’s OK Not to Share," Shumaker teaches adults to "take off their adult lenses" and address issues of morality with more child-friendly methods. Her Renegade Rules include:

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Every year in April, the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County and the Kenton County Public Library come together for El Dia de los Niños / Dia de los Libros (or Children’s Day / Book Day). It’s an exciting multicultural fiesta where books become the bridges for children and their families to celebrate literacy across different cultures and backgrounds. From year to year, El Dia rotates across the Ohio River. This year, the free festivities will take place Saturday, April 27, from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. at the Bond Hill Branch Library.

Dates set for painted pots and sale at Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve will be in full swing for spring with Painted Pots Week on April 19 through May 3, Painted Pots Weekend May 4 and 5 and a Spring Plant Sale, April 19 through May 5.

Clay planting pots will be available for painting and decorating on the front porch of the Nature’s Niche Gifts & Books from April 19 through May 3, 11 am to 4 pm daily and 12 pm to 3 pm on Sundays. Visitors are encouraged to leave their pots when they are finished, which will be hung playfully from the trees throughout the park. They also have the option to take their pots home for a fee of $5.00.

On May 4 and 5 from 12 pm to 4 pm, visitors can pick a hanging pot and plant a flower in it. There will also be other fun activities like tie dyeing, taking a wildflower hike, listening to music, decorating a flower cookie and more.
