Easter celebration at the Cincinnati Zoo

AVONDALE, OH (FOX19) - Annual Easter events at the Cincinnati Zoo provides fun for the humans and the animals.

The zoo's Easter celebration is being held on Saturday, March 30 from 10am - 2pm.

The day will include treat stations, children’s activities, popular animal egg hunts and visits by the Easter Bunny.  Back by popular demand  is “The Hunt for GDuri olden Eggs.”

Four special golden eggs will be hidden around the Zoo for you to discover.

The animals will also have theri Easter fun with egg hunts and egg smashes for the elephants, gorillas, bears and more.

All Easter activities are free with general zoo admission.

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Come join us at the Green Township Branch Library at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 22, for a special after-hours program for families with members on the autism spectrum.

This open house event is designed to provide an opportunity for a low stress visit to the Library to explore books, activities, educational resources, and programs that meet the special needs of families with ASD. Representatives from the University of Cincinnati University for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities and Cincinnati Center for Autism will be available to talk about the resources and programs they offer to families.

Summer Day Camps at the Heritage Village Musuem

SHARONVILLE, OH (FOX19) - The Heritage Village Museum is hosting three weeks of Summer Day Camp for the 2013. These camps are a perfect blend of education and fun. Camp will keep your children active over the summer as well as learning a little about history.

The things they learn here are about the daily lives of the people who lived in Ohio before us, and experiencing it will leave a much deeper impression upon them than reading about these people in a textbook.

Civil War Camp June 17th-21st and July 22nd-26th: Campers will see what life was like as a child in Southwest Ohio during the Civil War. Activities and educational opportunities abound as campers participate in daily activities from the 1860’s time period such as making hardtack, paper art and learning secret codes.

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - As part of Macy’s Arts Sampler weekend on Saturday, March 2, Springfield Township will present an entire day of free family programs at The Grove Banquet Hall from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Grove is located at 9158 Winton Road, behind the Civic Center.

The Macy’s Arts Sampler weekends, sponsored by Macy’s, celebrate the creative things - music, dance, theater, museums, and festivals - happening in large and small ways throughout our region. These weekends are great opportunities for families, friends, and neighbors to connect with one another and experience the arts through free events. The last two weekends will offer over 130 events at over 75 venues all over the region.

Boathouses opening in March for the season

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The boathouses at Miami Whitewater Forest, Winton Woods and Sharon Woods are set to open for spring.

Miami Whitewater Forest Boathouse will be open weekends beginning Saturday, March 9 and open daily beginning April 1. The 85-acre lake offers plenty of room for fishing by boat or on the shore.

Winton Woods Boathouse will also be open weekends starting Friday, March 15 and open daily beginning April 1. Winton Woods Lake is best known for great spring crappie and bluegill.

Sharon Woods Boathouse will open daily beginning Saturday, March 30. The lake is a popular spot for and will be stocked with channel catfish in May.

A valid Hamilton County Park District Motor Vehicle Permit ($10.00 annual; $3.00 daily) is required to enter the parks. Miami Whitewater Forest is located at 9001 Mt. Hope Rd. in Harrison, Winton Woods is located at 10245 Winton Rd. in Springfield Twp. and Sharon Woods is located at 4631 E. Kemper Road in Sharonville.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the puck drops at 7:30 p.m. Be one of the first 1,500 fans (ages 2-12) through the doors for the March 9 game and receive a free kids jersey T-shirt.

Be sure to stop by the Library's both to meet RED, the Library mascot. Show him your RED card and then spin the wheel for fun prizes. If your spin lands on “READ,” you’ll also be entered into a grand prize drawing to be awarded during the game.
