Zoo members to get a preview of the Festival of Lights

AVONDALE, OH (FOX19) - A former Bengal, a current Bengal  and a local American Idol finalist are all scheduled to take part in a preview night for the PNC Festival of Lights at the Cincinnati Zoo.

The special preview for zoo members and local media will be on Wednesday, November 21 from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.

According to the Cincinnati Zoo Facebook page, the official tree-lighting ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. with special guests including American Idol finalist, Eben Franckewitz, BowTie Cause Chairman and former Cincinnati Bengal, Dhani Jones, and Cincinnati Bengal, Kevin Zeitler.

The Cincinnati Zoo is GLOWrious during the annual PNC Festival of Lights! While seeing over two-million LED lights strung throughout the Zoo, guests can also enjoy the NEW S’mores-N-More station, Madcap puppets in black-light, a NEW Wild Lights Show on Swan Lake, train rides and much more.

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Remember the Poky Little Puppy? Or maybe you were more of a Tootle the Train fan. Whichever Little Golden Book character was your favorite, you now have the chance to revisit your old friends.

The Main Library is hosting the “Golden Legacy” exhibit, the most extensive public showing ever of original illustration art from American publishing’s best-loved and most consequential picture-book series, Little Golden Books.

The exhibit runs through Feb. 21, 2013, in the Main Library’s Atrium, 800 Vine Street. Hours are: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday; and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Launched in 1942 — the first full year of America’s involvement in World War II — Little Golden Books made high-quality illustrated books available at affordable prices for the first time to millions of young children and their parents.

Beech Acres has November parenting workshop: Understanding Your Child's Typical Development

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Beech Acres Parenting Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting parents and caregivers in raising children who thrive, is hosting its As My Child Grows: Understanding Your Child’s Typical Development and Behavior parenting workshop Tuesday, November 13 (in its Anderson campus) and Thursday, November 29 (on its West campus).

It is common for parents to ask the question, “Is this normal?” They may compare their child’s growth and development to others, or have read all the articles but still are not sure what to do. Attendees will learn to identify age-appropriate or ‘normal’ developmental tasks and ways to encourage and support the various stages of their child’s growth from birth to pre-adolescence.

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County is participating in National Gaming Day Saturday, Nov. 10, with plenty of events for the whole family at select branches.

Young gamers can interact with a diverse group of peers, share their expertise with others, and develop new strategies for gaming and learning. Activities include video games, board games, card games, trivia, puzzles and much more.

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The third annual Harvest Festival at Centennial Barn held on October 21st, featured music on two stages, Mr. Cowpie's Petting Zoo, magician Professor Bill Pryor,  stilt walkers, face painting, shopping at over 30 arts and craft vendors  and topped off by a Pig Roast with all the trimmings.

The Festival at Centennial Barn, 110 Compton Road in Wyoming, Hartwell, has become a day of celebration at the 115-year-old classic, brick  barn.

The featured Pig Roast was a benefit for the Franciscan Ministries, the organizational group of the following care services:  Franciscans for the Poor, Haircuts from the Heart, Tamar's Place, Our Lady of the Woods and Centennial Barn.

SHARONVILLE, OH (FOX19) - Laughing Noodle, a new co-branded restaurant from White Castle is inviting families to attend the official kick-off of its Kids Eat Free event this Sunday, October 28 at 3980 Hauck Road in Sharonville. Bengals legend and Pro Football Hall of Fame member, Anthony Muñoz will be in attendance for a meet and greet from 2-4 p.m.
