Zoo worker honored for saving visitor with CPR | Health
CINCINNATI (FOX19) - While working at the Cincinnati Zoo, Sara Benjamin, a Red Cross instructor responded to a zoo patron that appeared to be going into cardiac arrest. Sara immediately performed CPR on this person and because of her quick thinking, he survived.
"Sara has exemplified extraordinary composure during a very stressful situation and we are very proud of her unyielding compassion to help others,” said Wayne Lohmoeller, Operations Manager for the Cincinnati Zoo. “These are just a few of Sara's leadership traits; we can all learn from her examples."
The Cincinnati Region of the American Red Cross along with the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens recognized Sara on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 by presenting her with the Help Can’t Wait Award which recognizes individuals who because of their training and quick thinking, help save a life.
“Sara exemplifies the importance of being trained in CPR,” says Sara Peller CEO for the Cincinnati Red Cross. “In a situation like this seconds make a difference which is why we are so proud to present Sara with this award.”
