State and national recognition for Reading Middle School

READING, OH (FOX19) - Reading Middle School is being recognized on both a state and national level as a school to watch.

Criteria for the designation of Schools to Watch:

  • Academic Excellence - the school is excellent and challenges all students
  • Social Equity - the school is socially equitable and fair
  • Developmental Responsiveness - the school is sensitive to the unique developmental challenges of early adolescence
  • Organizational Structures and Processes - the organization has established norms, structures and arrangements to support and sustain excellence

Reading Middle School us now one of only 24 Ohio middle schools to earn this distinction in the last eight years and is one of 325 middle schools nationwide to have earned this honor.

RMS Principal Bob Longworth gave credit to his staff for their commitment and dedication to Reading students.  “Our dedicated staff has worked hard to find ways to engage and support our students personally and academically and the positive results have been tremendous," he shared. "Without the support from our parents and the community, our success would not be possible.”

The school will be recognized on the State level on February 22 in Sandusky, Ohio. Nationally, Reading Middle School will be recognized in Washington D.C. in June.
