Cincinnati State honors top CPS students | News
CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Cincinnati State Technical and Community College will host a ceremony from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21 to honor students who will graduate from the eighth grade this year in Cincinnati Public Schools with exemplary attendance and honor roll records.
Students and their parents will be treated to light refreshments, and the students will be awarded medals and prizes, during a short ceremony in the auditorium of the Advanced Technology & Learning Center at Cincinnati State.
The event is part of the GEARUP SCORES! partnership. GEARUP (Gaining Early Awareness & Readiness in Undergraduate Programs) is a federal initiative for economically disadvantaged youth. GEARUP SCORES! is a local partnership that delivers college awareness and readiness programs and services to more than 4,700 Cincinnati Public Schools students in 30 K-8 elementary schools. The primary partners in GEARUP SCORES! are the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Public Schools, the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative, Cincinnati State and Parents for Public Schools of Greater Cincinnati (PPSGC). Partners providing additional support include The Enquirer, the Cincinnati Reds and the Cincinnati Bengals.
The GEARUP SCORES! partners previously collaborated successfully on the Cincinnati GEARUP Success Partnership which served more than 4,000 CPS students in grades seven through 12 from 2002 through 2008.
