Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center to receive large donation from Kohl's in Norwood

NORWOOD, OH (FOX19) - Kohl’s Department Stores will be presenting a check in the amount of $248,760 to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center representatives on Saturday, December 3  at the Norwood Community Center, located at 1810 Courtland Avenue. The funds will be used to further Cincinnati Children’s efforts to decrease unintentional injury among children in Norwood.

Kohl’s and Cincinnati Children’s entered into a partnership in 2000 and to date, Kohl’s has donated $1,976,896 to assist the hospital’s injury prevention initiatives. Over the years, Kohl’s has raised funds for Cincinnati Children’s through the Kohl’s Cares® cause merchandise program, which features books and exclusive plush toys. The items are available at more than 1,000 Kohl’s stores nationwide and online at Kohls.com. 100 percent of the net profit of the items that are sold in the Greater Cincinnati Kohl’s stores is donated to Cincinnati Children’s.

"Through the generous support and partnership with Kohl's, Cincinnati Children's injury prevention and education initiatives have continued to grow, including the expansion of our programs into the Norwood Community,” said Richard A. Falcone, Jr., MD, <?xml:namespace prefix = u1 />MPH, Director of Trauma Services and member of the Executive Committee for the Comprehensive Children’s Injury Center at Cincinnati Children’s. “The funds that are being donated will continue to help improve the lives of countless children in our community by helping us to provide education and resources in partnership with community leaders in Norwood that are necessary to prevent injuries.”

Approximately 500 people are expected to attend the event at the Norwood Community Center that is being hosted by the Norwood Recreation Commission.  In addition to being present for the check presentation, children and adults who attend the event will be able to see Santa arrive on a fire truck, and participate in arts and crafts and several raffles throughout the day.
