Graduation ceremony held for local student intern academy | News
CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Area students who participated in the 6th annual Student Intern Academy graduated from the eight-week program on Thursday.
A graduation ceremony took place at the Woodward high school in Bond Hill.
Forty-seven students from more than 15 area high schools completed an eight-week internship at either the Metropolitan Sewer District or Greater Cincinnati Water Works. In addition to working on real-time projects with government professionals, the students took part in weekly professional development sessions, learned about government through visits to City Council meetings and by touring various utilities.
Students from the following high schools took part:
- Aiken
- Clark Academy
- Hughes
- Mother of Mercy
- Oyler
- Princeton
- Seton
- Taft
- Walnut Hills
- Winton Woods
- Withrow
- Woodward
The SIA is a collaborative effort of the City, Cincinnati Public Schools, MSD and GCWW.
City Manager Milton Dohoney began the program six years ago, under the leadership of MSD Executive Director Tony Parrott.
