CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19)- An outdoor products retailer donates $10,000 to the volunteer program for Cincinnati parks.
REI awarded the grant to support the Cincinnati Park Board's volunteer programs that engage the public in caring for the Cincinnati Parks.
The Cincinnati Park Board's Volunteer Programs are vital to efficient operations of our City's 5,000 acre park system.
The mission of the program is to increase community engagement with our parks and greenspaces, while reducing costs to manage the park system.
In 2011, 3,000 volunteers completed 65,000 hours of service. That saved the parks $1.2 million.
REI will open soon in Norwood's Rookwood Commons.
