The Circuit Awards Four Scholarships to local students

CLIFTON, OH (FOX19) - The Circuit announced on Thursday the recipients of four $1,250 scholarships to local college students. The funds for the scholarships were generated from sponsors and 120 players who participated in The Circuit’s 2011 Scholarship Golf Outing, presented by ISOCNET.

The four scholarship recipients include three students currently attending the University of Cincinnati (UC) and a senior from Mother of Mercy High School who is planning on attending UC this fall.

  • Farooq Alkhateeb, University of Cincinnati – Graduate of Dixie Heights High School and is pursuing bachelor’s degree in information technology with anticipated graduation in 2013.
  • Jessica Dovel, University of Cincinnati – Graduate of Roger Bacon High School and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in information technology with anticipated graduation date in 2014.
  • HuiTing Milewski, University of Cincinnati – Pursuing bachelor’s degree in information technology with anticipated graduation date in 2015.
  • Meghan Pope, Mother of Mercy High School – Graduates in 2012 with plans to attend the University of Cincinnati to pursue a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a master’s degree in information systems.

“This was one of the most competitive years that I can remember as we received applications from many deserving students,” said Al Early, vice president, professional services for CBTS and chair of The Circuit’s golf committee. “While we could not present scholarships to all the applicants this year, the golf outing this summer will raise more funds to benefit even more students. On behalf of the golf committee, we want to congratulate Farooq, Jessica, HuiTing and Meghan and wish them well in their academic pursuits. We look forward to following their careers develop throughout the next several years and to their contributions to the local IT community in the near future.”

“As a long-standing sponsor of The Circuit’s scholarship golf outing we recognize the impact that this event has on our IT community and the benefits that the scholarships provide local students,” said Rick Cummins, president of ISOCNET. “To date, the event has benefited dozens of students and awarded thousands of dollars to scholarships. The opportunity to strengthen customer and partner relationships, continue to build the local community and raise scholarship funds keeps ISOCNET coming back every year. We appreciate all of the other sponsors and participants and invite more companies to get involved so that we can continue to raise scholarship dollars and help more local students.”

The 2012 golf outing is scheduled for June 18 at The Heritage in Mason. For more information or questions regarding applications for the 2012-2013 Circuit IT Scholarship, visit The Circuit’s website (www.thecircuit.net) Golf Tab, or contact Connie at 513.563.3524 or connie@thecircuit.net. Each year, the scholarship recipients are invited to assist with registration at the following year’s outing. Proceeds from the 2012 golf event will provide scholarships for the fall 2012/2013 school year.

“Despite several weather-related delays, the 2011 golf outing was a fantastic event that once again achieved its fund-raising goals,” said Robert Steele of KiZAN Technologies, LLC and co-chair of the golf committee. “We are planning another great event this year at The Heritage, and have secured the support of ISOCNET, nine-time Diamond Sponsor, and SOCIUS as Silver Sponsor, to get us started on the right foot.  We appreciate their support. We have several other opportunities for more companies to get involved; from drink and photography sponsorships to creative holes sponsorships that allow sponsors to interact with golfers. We appreciate the support and participation of area IT professionals and look forward to another successful outing.”
