SHARONVILLE, OH (FOX19) - “What a great event! Delicious food, happy people, and a fun time,” said Ed Cunningham, who reflected the feelings of many.  “It exceeded all expectations,” Debbie King said. “We loved the single entry price as opposed to paying per taste.  Getting to vote for the best awards added a fun participatory element beyond eating.”

The Taste of Northern Cincinnati hosted almost 1,000 guests on Sunday to a yummy diversity of food, fun, family & friends. All indoors and for one small cost, “…what an awesome concept and you pulled it off magnificently!” said Kelly Meyers.

Restaurants presented guests with generous portions of their specialties, while vying for awards in five categories. Sharonville Chamber President Rich Arnold said “…every restaurant here is a winner. The satisfied expressions on each guests face said it all! 

Each guest had ballots to vote in all five categories.” And the winners are…..

Campbell County woman is culinary Student of the Year in KY

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - A Cincinnati State student who lives in Highland Heights and works in Newport has been honored in Kentucky.

Erica Johnson, who attends Cincinnati State’s Midwest Culinary Institute, was named the Kentucky Restaurant Association’s Student of the Year during a recent ceremony in Louisville.  Johnson, who lives in Highland Heights, is currently finishing a double major in Pastry Arts and Culinary Arts at the Midwest Culinary Institute (MCI).  She also works at the Hofbrauhaus in Newport.

“Erica deserves congratulations for a job well done,” said Chef John Kinsella, who along with MCI Chef James Myatt nominated Erica for the Kentucky Restaurant Association Award.

Kinsella and Myatt noted that Johnson has already built an impressive resume, one that extends across the full range of Cincinnati State’s kitchens to the world well beyond the campus.

SHARONVILLE, OH (FOX19) - The Sharonville Chamber of Commerce will present the Taste of Northern Cincinnati on Sunday, Feb. 19, from Noon to 4 p.m.

It's an all-you-can -eat one-price event with food from 20 restaurants.

The restaurants include: Blue Goose, Costco, Crown Plaza, Dessert Works, Elements Catering, Gold Star Chili, Golden Rule Catering, Iron Horse, J.

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Qdoba Mexican Grill, the leading fast-casual restaurant known for its fresh and innovative Mexican cuisine, will hold the grand opening of its first Western Hills location on Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at 6173 Glenway Ave in Westwood.  To celebrate, Qdoba will welcome guests with exclusive deals and samples of its signature 3-Cheese Queso.

On Monday, guests who visit the new Qdoba location will enjoy 50 percent off an entrée and samples of Qdoba’s handmade chips and 3-Cheese Queso. On Tuesday, guests can spin the Qdoba Wheel for a chance to win coupons and other prizes. The grand-opening celebration will then continue into February with Qdoba offering $5 entrees daily after 5 p.m. from Jan. 31 – 29, 2012.

Hamilton County food inspection fees being reduced

 

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Hamilton County Public Health cutting licensing fees for all food service and retail food operations by 12 per cent, effective February 1, 2012.

Technology and realignment have driven the cost savings, according to Hamilton County Health Commissioner, Tim Ingram.  “We have incorporated considerable new technology in our inspection and reporting processes,” Ingram says.  “Electronic reporting and data collection speed up the process and provide the public with information on our findings much more quickly.  Our establishments get a reduced fee structure while the public gets faster access to our reports through our website.”

Pancake breakfast coming to First Presbyterian in Glendale

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - You're invited to bring the kids and bring a guest to the Pancake Breakfast and Bake Sale at First Presbyterian church in Glendale this coming Saturday.

The event offers all-you-can-eat pancakes, ham, sausage, hot apple sauce, fresh fruit cups, orange juice, milk, and coffee.  If pancakes don't satisfy, they also have sausage gravy and biscuits.

The cost is free for kids under 6, $3 for kids 6 to 12, and 6 dollars for everyone older.

There are also baked goods to go, of you make reservations at 771-6195.

Proceeds go to Valley Interfaith Food and Clothing Center in Lockland.

Cincinnati area Chick-fil-A restaurants to host free breakfast giveaway

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Chick-fil-A® restaurants in the Cincinnati area will host a breakfast giveaway from Monday, Jan. 16 to Saturday, Jan. 21.

A free breakfast entrée of choice will be given to any customer who reserves an entrée online and brings their printed confirmation into the specified restaurant during the date and time of their reservation.

From Monday, Jan. 9 to Saturday, Jan. 14, Cincinnati customers can visit www.chick-fil-aforbreakfast.com to reserve their free breakfast entrée. Cincinnati locations will not show up on the website until Monday, Jan.
