CPS program brings awareness to teen driving habits

CPS program brings awareness to teen driving habits

KENNEDY HEIGHTS, OH (FOX19) - Councilman P.G. Sittenfeld, CPS' Safe Routes To School Program, and the City's Transportation Department are partnering to promote Cincinnati Automotive Road Safety (C.A.R.S) Week beginning Monday, August 13.

"We came up with the idea for C.A.R.S. Week because we wanted to bring awareness to some of the most common and also most dangerous driving habits - things like speeding, texting while driving, not wearing seat belts and not being mindful of pedestrians and bicyclists," said Sittenfeld.

Throughout C.A.R.S. Week, Cincinnati Citicable will run public service announcements featuring facts about the impact of unsafe driving habits, as well as offering tips to keep you safe on the road.

"With thousands of Cincinnati students about to head back to school, right now is the right time to bring more attention to driver safety," said Sittenfeld.

Lockland board members voted to put superintendent, Donna Hubbard, on paid administrative leave last week, in order to continue with the investigation.

On Thursday evening, the board approved interim superintendent, Dr.

Cincinnati State to offer ‘Fast Track’ enrollment at main campus

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati State – taking a page from its recruiting efforts at its new Middletown campus – will offer expedited enrollment opportunities for prospective students at its main campus in Clifton on Saturday, August 4.

The “Fast Track” session will combine processes that can require separate visits to campus. Prospective students will be able to:

  • Apply for admission
  • Complete applications for financial aid (and, if required, secure assistance in filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA)
  • Take the placement test (used to help incoming students and their advisors make appropriate course selections)
  • Develop an education plan and register for classes

“The one-day, one-stop approach has proven to be quite popular in Middletown, and we want to see if it has the same appeal at the main campus,” said Dr. Anthony Cruz, Dean of Enrollment and Student Development.

MT. HEALTHY, OH (FOX19) - The Aubrey Rose Foundation has awarded $16,500 to 31 area eighth grade students for exemplary kindness, compassion and efforts to give back to their community.

The students, from 26 schools from the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area, were awarded $500 scholarships to be applied toward their private high school tuition this fall.  They, and their parents, were surprised with the scholarships at their school's graduation or award ceremonies this spring, said Nancy Hollenkamp, foundation founder. Winners were chosen based on written essays.

"If you give your heart, time, and money, you will be in a position to receive," Cincinnati State Technical and Community College president Dr. O'dell Owens told the students at the reception Tuesday evening at Aston Oaks Golf Club, in North Bend.
