AMBERLEY VILLAGE, OH (FOX19) - Several local high school students are being given the Simon Lazarus Jr. Human Relations Award for their commitment to community service.
A total of 53 high school volunteers will be honored on Wednesday, May 1 from 36 high schools throughout the Cincinnati area. These awards are presented annually by American Jewish Committee (AJC).
AJC will present certificates to every nominee and donate books to the libraries of all schools nominating students. In addition, ten finalists will receive books and cash prizes presented by the judges, a panel of five community leaders: Dhani Jones, Todd Portune, Dr. Lakshmi Sammarco, Patricia Mann Smitson, and Lincoln Ware.
A dessert reception follows the Awards Ceremony at Rockdale Temple in Amberley Village, which is free and open to the public from 7:30pm - 8:45pm.
