Coldwell Banker teams up with Reds Community Fund for fourth year in a row

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - For the fourth consecutive year, local Coldwell Banker West Shell offices contiunue their support for the Cincinnati Reds Community Fund.

The company sponsors a variety of events throughout the year including the Redlegs Run 5K and The Match Program.

“We are extremely proud of the program’s growth that now includes sixteen organizations all of which benefit from the Community Fund,” says Joe King president of Coldwell Banker West Shell.  “Our group of agents and managers are incredibly committed to making a difference in the community and take pride in our contributions.  They have willingly volunteered their time to ensure that Coldwell Banker West Shell representatives are at each and every game to provide food, prizes and fun games for the kids to play. “

The Redlegs Run 5K is scheduled for Saturday, June 1. This is the first year that Coldwell Banker West Shell has sponsored and entered the race.

Cincinnati State student finishes third at Lorain Invitational

Elyria, OH (FOX19) -- Cincinnati State freshman Matt Nickoson shot a 76(+4) in the Lorain Community College Invitational on Sunday afternoon.

Nickoson's 76 led his team and was the third lowest score in individual competition in extremely wet conditions at Elyria Country Club. Eric Howard followed Nickoson with an 80. Austin Kyle shot an 81 and sophomore Jake Ripberger finished with an 83. Cincinnati State finished in 3rd place with a team score of 320.

Owens Community College won its fourth conference tournament in a row with a team score of 304. Brandon Hoelzer of Owens finished with a low round 73 (+1).

Cincinnati State returns to competition on Monday in the Lakeland Laker Invitational at Little Mountain Golf Course.

Soap box racers gearing up for annual race this weekend

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Local children who are curious about soap box racing will be able to try the sport on Saturday, April 27.

Kids ages 7 thru 17 are invited to try out Soap Box Derby racing at the Red Dog Grand Prix in Madisonville.  CSBD has a number of cars to drive on the same hill as the Cincinnati Championship race.

Drivers must be ages 7 through 17 to drive and a partent or guardian must sign a liability waiver in person. The morning race begins at 9 a.m. Drivers report at 7:30 am. The afternoon race begins after morning race, approx 1 pm. Drivers report at noon.

There is a $35 per race fee to drive but anyone may watch the race for free.

These programs offer a unique look around the world with commentary by local photographers.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the speaker and topic for tonight's Photography Travel Series at Sharon Woods has changed. The topic, English Channel Islands and Normandy Beaches; Echos of WWII by Neal Jefferies, has been chaged to Driving Route 66 by Cliff Goosemann.

The Photography Travel Series is free and open to the public. Sharon Centre is located at 11450 Lebanon Road (US 42), Sharonville. A valid Hamilton County Park District Motor Vehicle Permit ($10.00 annual; $3.00 daily) is required to enter the parks.

Sharon Woods Golf Course celebrates 75 years

SHARONVILLE, OH (FOX19) - Sharon Woods Golf Course officially opened on May 27, 1938 with legendary amateur golfer Bobby Jones hitting the first ball.

Since then, Sharon Woods Golf Course has been one of Cincinnati’s top destinations for golf. To celebrate 75 years of golf, the course is hosting a week-long celebration, May 27 through June 2, with contests, giveaways, drawings, golf specials and a tournament on June 1.

Several activities and golf pricing scheduled are planned including $.75 cent hot dogs, logo golf balls and fountain drinks on Sunday, June 2. Also, anyone born in 1938 plays for the1938 green fee rate of $.50.

Registration for the tournament on June 1 is open now at http://bit.ly/14IzFdS. Each golfer who plays throughout the week will receive a commemorative bag tag.

St. X celebrating AquaBombers state championship

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Students and staff at St. Xavier High School will participate in a pep-rally in celebration of the AquaBombers winning the state championship.

The pep-rally will be on Wednesday, February 27 at 2:20pm in the Berning Gymnasium at St. Xavier High School.  The team, as well as the Jack Hendricks (state champion in the 500 freestyle) as well as the 200 free relay team comprised of Jack Hendricks, Cam Young, Grant Johnson and Mitchell Frey will also be recognized.

This is the 5th consecutive state title for the team and 34th in school history.
