Project closes some streets around University Hospital Sunday morning

 

CINCINNATI (FOX19) – Goodman Street near University Hospital will be shutdown to traffic and pedestrians from 5 - 10am on Sunday, April 22. All emergency vehicles, including ambulances, and other traffic will be redirected to Highland Avenue. Additionally, Highland Avenue will be shut down for a brief period between 7 - 7:30am. During this time, traffic will be redirected to Piedmont Avenue.

The temporary road closures are part of a project to remove equipment from the roof of University Hospital. Patient care will not be interrupted during this time. Family members may continue to pick up any patients being discharged from the circle in front of the main hospital on Bellevue Avenue.

Metro to Receive Earth Day Environmental Award

CINCINNATI – The Greater Cincinnati Earth Coalition has selected Metro to receive the Cincinnati Earth Day Celebration’s 2012 Environmental Award. Metro was chosen for the award based on its environmental-friendly business practices, including its use of 27 hybrid buses.

Metro CEO and General Manager Terry Garcia Crews will accept the award at the Cincinnati Earth Day Celebration at Sawyer Point on April 21 at 1 p.m.

“We are honored to receive this prestigious award that recognizes our efforts to provide green, clean public transportation,” said Garcia Crews. “It’s a great reminder that Metro is the environmentally responsible way to travel in Cincinnati.”

Metro's hybrid buses reduced greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 823 tons in 2011, and are expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 1,800 tons in 2012.

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Good news to all who ride the Cincinnati Metro. They say that during Good Friday, as well as Easter Sunday, bus service will continue as normal.

The disabled will still be able to use access services on both days.

More lanes closing next week around Winton/Gilmore/275

 

FOREST PARK AND FAIRFIELD, OH (FOX19) - As work continues to widen Winton/Gilmore Road at Interstate 275, several lane closings  are scheduled for next week.

On Monday, March 26, the contractor will extend the Winton Road/South Gilmore closure to the north to Mack Road with two lanes north and south to be maintained. In addition, the east side section of northbound Winton/Gilmore will be closed for construction work.

Work next week will also include closure of the left two lanes of eastbound Interstate 275, from the Mill Road overpass to just east of the bridge at Winton Road, beginning at 8 p.m. Monday, March 26. On Tuesday, March 27, the left two lanes of westbound I-275 from the Kenn Road overpass to just west of the bridge at Winton Road will be closed, beginning at 8 p.m.  All lanes will reopen to traffic by 6 a.m. the following day both days.

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Lamont Taylor, Human Resources Manager for Frisch’s Restaurants Inc., was named to the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority’s board of trustees on March 20.   

In his role at Frisch’s Restaurants Inc., Taylor is responsible for employee relations and non-exempt recruitment for Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. He had previously worked for Federal Express and the Greater Cincinnati Urban League.

Dana Avenue and Woodburn intersection to close

 

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - The intersection of Dana Avenue at Woodburn will be closed beginning on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 5:00 am.

The closing is because of roadway work on Dana Avenue in this intersection. The closure will remain in place until approximately Monday, April 2, 2012 at 5 a.m.  A marked detour will direct motorists around the intersection using Victory Parkway, Jonathan Avenue, and Montgomery Road.  Local, emergency, and Xavier University traffic will be maintained.

The Cincinnati Transportation and Engineering Department is asking drivers to reduce their speed and use caution when approaching the area.

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - To more accurately highlight its full system and service area, Metro has updated its transit system map.

Developed by Knoxville, Tenn.-based Smartmaps Inc., the new map includes bus routes for regional transit partners, the Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky (TANK) and the Clermont Transportation Connection (CTC).
