Lunken Airport Aviation Days are September 10 and 11

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Lunken airport is home to an amazing array of corporate and private aircraft.  Based there too are, historic Warbirds, technologically advanced personal  pleasure aircraft, homebuilts, experimentals and trainers.  A vast variety of aircraft will be on display on the main ramp behind the terminal, on Saturday and Sunday.

The ramp will be open both days to the public for displays, talking to pilots, air traffic controllers, and warbird enthusiasts. We will host representatives from area flying and aircraft maintenance schools, community colleges, military recruiters and universities. There will be displays of interest for students who want to pursue an aviation career and aviation books. Guests can visit all of the mechanics on the field– they are the ones that maintain these magnificent flying machines.

Metro on Holiday Schedule for Labor Day

Metro on Holiday Schedule for Labor Day

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Metro buses will operate on a holiday schedule on Monday, September 5, in observation of Labor Day. Access specialized service for people with disabilities will also operate on a holiday schedule on September 5.

Metro will not operate special bus service for the 2011 Riverfest. On September 4, regular Metro Sunday service will operate to and from downtown, serving many communities. Customers may choose to ride regular Metro service to downtown and walk to the riverfront or transfer to Metro Rt. 1, which serves Sawyer Point.

Route changes during Riverfest will be posted on www.go-metro.com.

Lane and Ramp Closures scheduled on Interstate 75

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - As part of the Monmouth Street overpass construction project, which involves completing work on a new bridge over 75 north of Hopple Street in Camp Washington, the following lane closings will be in effect almost every night for pavement work on Interstate 75:

Monday, Aug. 22:  Northbound left lanes closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 23:  Southbound left lanes closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 24:  Northbound right lanes closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Thursday, Aug. 25:  Southbound right lanes closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.; the southbound off ramp to Hopple Street closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., except for emergency vehicles
 
Friday, Aug. 26:  North and southbound rolling lane closures from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.  Local law enforcement officers will maintain traffic.

Former Council Member Cole joins bikers blessing

CINCINNATI  (FOX19) - Former Cincinnati City Council Member and motorcycle enthusiast Y. Laketa Cole will be joining with several motorcycle groups and community leaders for a rally and blessing this Saturday in the Cincinnati neighborhood of Evanston.

"As we head into the heart of riding season, I want to make sure that both bikers and drivers remember to be safe," Cole said. "This is a great opportunity to take a moment to focus on what's really important out there on the road. After all, prayer never hurts--it can only help."

The Community and Bike Blessing and Rally for Safety will bring the A.L.L.S.T.A.R.S. (all female) and RTime (all male) Motorcycle Clubs to St. Stephen AME Church on Saturday from 12pm-1:30pm at St. Stephen AME Church, 1627 Fairfax Ave. in Evanston.

During her time on Council, Cole was known as avid bike rider, often riding her motorcycle to City Hall during the summer recess.

Lanes to closes overnights through Friday on I-75

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Pavement work will require nightly lane closings on northbound Interstate 75 near the Monmouth Street overpass, located between the exits for Hopple Street and the I-74 interchange. 

Wednesday, Aug. 17 through Friday, Aug. 19, northbound left lanes will be closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.

The Monmouth Street overpass is a new bridge that links the north end of Camp Washington to Central Parkway.  It replaces a small bridge that was on Bates Avenue.

Lanes close Friday and Saturday in the Lockland split

LOCKLAND, OH (FOX19) - Pavement work will require various lanes to close on southbound and northbound Interstate 75 in the Lockland split area Friday and Saturday, August 12 and 13.

The southbound left lane will close at 9 p.m. with the center lane closing at 10 p.m.  When work on the southbound side is complete, the closures will switch to the northbound side.  The right lane will close first followed by closure of the center lane.  

All lanes will open to traffic by noon Saturday, Aug. 13.

Arrow boards and/or signs will be in place to alert motorists of the lane closures.

More lane closings on 75 in Camp Washington next week

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - The Ohio Department of Transportation says pavement work will require nightly lane closures next week for both north and southbound Interstate 75 near the Monmouth Street overpass, located between the exits for Hopple Street and the I-74 interchange.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Monday, Aug. 15:  Northbound left lanes closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
  • Tuesday, Aug. 16:  Southbound left lanes closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 17:  Northbound right lanes closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
  • Thursday, Aug. 18:  Southbound right lanes closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
  • Friday, Aug. 19 and Saturday, Aug. 20:  North and southbound left lanes closed at 7 p.m. using rolling lane closures with local law enforcement officers providing traffic control; all lanes reopen to traffic by 7 a.m.
